Fun and energetic classes with live drumming focus on traditional Ghanaian and other West African dances. The earth and heart based movements are exciting and varied, yet appropriate for all levels.
African dance teaches the body a new vocabulary of movements and rhythms that classical Western styles of dance do not. Because of this it is a great “cross-training” opportunity for dancers of other styles. Lively fun for all, dancer or not, everyone takes something new away!
Awal Alhassan has been teaching everyone from complete beginners to professional dancers for over twenty years, and is able to lay out each movement so that every student leaves class amazed at how much fun they had and what they have accomplished.
All classes are drop in, giving you either flexibility with your busy schedule, or the opportunity to commit and come regularly. Join us and enjoy the live drumming while you get your body moving with this beautiful artform!
